Arusha National Park – Tanzania’s Close-to-Arusha Wildlife & Eco Adventure
Arusha National Park is one of Tanzania’s most diverse and accessible wildlife sanctuaries — just about 45 minutes from Arusha town. Though smaller than many other parks, it delivers a rich safari experience with varied landscapes, including grassy savannah plains, rainforests, volcanic craters, and alkaline lakes set beneath the majestic slopes of Mount Meru.
Arusha National Park is a smaller park but rich in biodiversity. Expect sightings of giraffes, zebras, buffalo, waterbuck, hippos, warthogs, colobus and blue monkeys, and occasionally predators like leopard and hyena. Its mix of habitats supports lush birdlife, hippos in crater lakes, and colorful flamingos on the alkaline lakes near the Rift Valley.
Arusha National Park is enjoyable year-round. The dry season (June–October) offers more predictable wildlife viewing, while the wet season (November–May) brings vibrant green landscapes, excellent birdwatching, and fewer crowds — ideal for eco-focused travelers.
Arusha National Park lies approximately 35 km northeast of Arusha town and is easy to reach by road — roughly 45 minutes from central Arusha. The park is also within reasonable driving distance from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
There are a variety of accommodations close to Arusha NP ranging from eco‐lodges, tented camps, and nature retreats, allowing guests to experience sunrise views over Mount Meru and nocturnal wildlife sounds. Book early for stays during peak travel seasons.

It was the most amazing experience I could have imagined when I went on a 6-day safari excursion with Maramatta Safaris in MAY 2024.It was really well thought out and put together. Our driver and guide made sure everything went as planned. They were both really competent and informed, not to mention incredibly nice, gregarious, talkative, and enjoyable. Additionally, we had a fantastic cook who managed the meals for the duration of the trip.We were meant to tent for a few nights because we went with the less expensive option, but Glory upgraded us for free and we stayed in gorgeous lodges instead. at addition, we stayed two nights at her comfortable guesthouse in Arusha, both before and after the trip. It was a fantastic value for the money all around. The professionalism and focus on the needs of the customer exhibited by the whole Maramatta Safaris team truly impressed me. They went above and above to ensure that we could unwind and savor the enchantment of the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire—their wildlife, scenery, and ambiance. I was infatuated with it.
