Embark on a cultural safari Tanzania journey where ancient traditions meet breathtaking landscapes. This 6-day private tour blends intimate tribal encounters with world-class wildlife viewing in Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Walk with the Hadzabe, dance with the Maasai, and witness the Big Five—all in one enriching experience.
TOUR PLAN
Day 1: Arusha – Maasai Highlands (Monduli)
Your cultural adventure begins with a scenic drive to the Monduli Highlands, home to the legendary Maasai. You’ll be welcomed into a traditional boma where elders share oral histories, demonstrate fire-making, and introduce you to the famed Adumu dance. Learn the rhythms, beliefs, and lifestyle of Tanzania’s most iconic tribe.
Overnight: Eco-lodge in Monduli
Day 2: Monduli – Lake Eyasi (Hadzabe Experience)
Travel to the remote lands of Lake Eyasi, where the Hadzabe hunter-gatherers still live much as they have for centuries. Join a bushwalk, learn about hunting with bows and foraging, and discover their unique click language. In the afternoon, visit the Datoga blacksmiths, known for their decorative beadwork and iron-forging skills.
Overnight: Lake Eyasi cultural lodge
Day 3: Lake Eyasi – Ngorongoro Highlands
Ascend to the lush Ngorongoro Highlands, a fertile region dotted with local farming villages. Enjoy a gentle hike on the crater rim, take in panoramic views, and visit a local cultural centre to learn about multiple Tanzanian ethnic groups.
Overnight: Lodge near Ngorongoro
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Safari – Serengeti
Descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day safari. Spot elephants, lions, rhinos and more in this natural amphitheatre. Later, travel to the Serengeti Plains, stopping at the Olduvai Gorge Museum, where early human fossils were discovered.
Overnight: Serengeti tented camp or lodge
Day 5: Full-Day Serengeti Safari + Cultural Extension
Enjoy a full day exploring the Serengeti ecosystem, home to the Great Migration and unrivalled big cat sightings. Optional cultural extension: visit a Maasai village near the park boundary for insights into their coexistence with wildlife.
Overnight: Serengeti camp/lodge
Day 6: Serengeti – Arusha Departure
Enjoy a final morning game drive or scenic flight back to Arusha. Depending on your schedule, we can arrange a visit to a local craft market or community project before transfer to the airport.
